Obituary for Henry A. Snell

Henry Arthur “Bob” Snell, loving husband of Sheila  M. Snell and father of Dayna Renee’ Snell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017. 

Born in Brundidge AL, Bob was the son of the late Lucille Downing Stenson and Henry E. Snell.  He spent his early years living with his grandparents who were sharecroppers in Alabama. At the age of 14, he joined his mother step father and siblings in Waterbury CT.  Here is where he found his passion for music.  Bob learned to play the drums with friends and played them for hours in the park. He was intrigued by Latin rhythm and mastered it. He lead many bands, playing a variety of musical genres (Latin, Gospel, R&B, Funk, Polka)  He was a man of integrity and generosity. He lived his life as a mentor unselfishly sharing his gift of music.   

Upon moving to NJ, he was employed as a mechanic with Leaseway Trucking Co. in Port Newark, NJ before retiring. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter: Dayna R. Snell, 2 Step daughters, Donyne Cowan and Shanta Prescott, Stepson Kevin Jackson Sr. (Kimmilla). He is also survived by 2 sisters; Patricia Savage and Virginia Duckworth; 6 brothers; John E. Stenson, Sr. Gregory L. Stenson (Meloria), Ronald Stenson, Willie L. (Bevlyn), Ronald E. and Henry E. Snell;  10 grandchildren; Shannon and Chantal Baldwin, Dillyn Caruso, Tylina Jackson, McKenzie Snell, Kalah James, Kevin Jackson Jr, Kemon and Ke’mil Jackson and Kevin Ross, Jr. 2 great grandchildren, Jayden Mack and Shaun Baldwin, Gladys Jackson, mother in law, special friend Rodney Bullock and host of other relatives and friends.
